Bugaboo Donkey Stroller

Bugaboo Donkey Stroller set up as a Mono

I know it’s been a few weeks since the ABC Kids Show, but I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to share a little info about the new Bugaboo Donkey Stroller. So here’s the scoop on what we know about the Donkey so far.  One thing to note: we’re not currently carrying Bugaboo, mostly because you, our customers, began to lose interest in the brand.  Let us know if that is still the case by commenting or talking to me the next time you stop by the store :-)

Deuter Child Carriers

In addition to our totally awesome selection of strollers and car seats, we also have a nice little collection of child carriers!  These carriers differ from slings or other infant carriers, in that they’re meant to be worn on your back  only, they have a frame, and they’re best suited for babies that are old enough to sit up (or about 6 months).  We carry two brands: Kokopax and Deuter. To follow is a quick run-down of what we have, their features, and our thoughts:

Sunshine Kids Radian XTSL in Eclipse

Just wanted to let everyone know that we have a (just one, so far) Sunshine Kids Radian XTSL in stock now!!  Whoo Hoo!!

This seat is awesome because of it’s internal steel frame, side impact head protection, and slim design.  With the Radian car seats you can fit 3 of them across in your back seat…yes, way!

Kari over at A Giveaway Addicted Mommy had this to say about the Radian XTSL:

“Everyone that sees this car seat mentions something they like about the design. It looks great and comfortable. It sits low enough, and the sides are not so high, that Jake can reach things on the seat next to him which helps on those long rides as Jake can help entertain himself. It also sits high enough so that he can see out the window.”

I couldn’t agree more with her assessment of the Sunshine Kids Radian XTSL seat.  It’s just plain awesome!

One thing to keep in mind however is how it fits in YOUR car…the safest seat for your child is the one that not only fits well in your car, but also fits your baby well.  That’s why we recommend that you come in and try our floor model out in your car to make sure that every thing is hunky-dorey.

I won this game....but Steve wasn't Gammoned

Steve and I were playing Backgammon the other night which got me thinking about when I learned how to play…which was in elementary school, I’m pretty sure.

So back in the day my Dad taught me how to play Backgammon for fun…and it’s such a good game that I never forgot how to play!  I remember playing TONS of games when I was little, which makes for really awesome memories now that I’m a big kid.  Jeez, I couldn’t get enough of playing board games!

Operation, Candy Land, Mouse Trap, Go to the Head of the Class (this was a big favorite), Uno, Skip-Bo (Uno and Skip-Bo are related – same maker), Chinese Checkers, regular Checkers, Connect Four (I had a version with marbles), Mancala (which I still play!)…so many games!

My point is really that playing games with your kids is such an easy way to engage them, have fun with them, and create positive lasting memories, and that’s aside from all the wonderful educational benefits!!  Thinking back about all the games I played reminds me of a lot of fun memories…they’re endless.  And because I had such fun playing all those games with my parents, I naturally think back to all the fun that we had back then and it really makes me smile.  For example…I remember playing Go To the Head of the Class with my Dad at the kitchen table before dinner, I’m pretty sure that he got some questions wrong too!  Or how about all the times that we played Skip-Bo on vacation!  So fun!

So I haven’t played as many games now that I’m a big kid.  Occasionally, I’ll play Skip-Bo (only on vacation of course, because it’s tradition now) and Mancala (I kicked Steve’s but about 10 times in a row when he first learned how to play…then he figured out the trick to it…bummer).  But Steve and I definitely still play Backgammon!  We’ve even had family tournements (I haven’t won those yet) which are such a blast!

Play games, have fun, create happy memories!

Here are some other thoughts on playing games with kids:

Just yesterday we got in a nice shipment of Sunshine Kids car seats and a few accessories.  We love Sunshine Kids because they have great accessories at even better prices and their car seats are safe, comfortable, and will fit your kids until they’re 65 or 80lbs for the Radians or 120lbs for the Monteray!

We are so excited to announce that we have partnered with the Salem-based company, FashionPlaytes.com!  You can now stop by Wild Child to purchase gift certificates to use on their web site.  These gift certificates make awesome gifts for any little girl.

The cool thing about Fashion Playtes is that they’re a virtual design studio that enables girls ages 5-12 to play “fashion designer” online and create a customized line of clothing that is actually produced to wear.  Basically, girls go onto their website (they’ll need some help from an adult too) pick out a piece of clothing and then embellish it as they want!  When you get the clothes in the mail a couple weeks later it’ll even say the name of the little girl who designed it right on the label.  They have a great selection of different clothing items from T-shirts, to dresses, skirts, hoodies, jackets and more.

Stop by the store to check out how it all works and pick up a gift card for your favorite little girl’s next birthday!

To celebrate our big move to 5 Medford St (just a 2 minute walk from our old location) we’re hosting a stroller contest, where the winner will receive a 2010 Uppababy Vista!  Yes, a real 2010 Uppababy Vista, you heard me right.

We know there are a lot of people out there who put their strollers through its paces, which is why this contest is perfect!

If you have an old, worn out, beat up stroller, that’s been with you through thick and thin, through clean kids, and filthy dirty kids, around the block a million times, or through the gauntlet and back, then submit a photo of your stroller to have a chance at winning a brand new one!

Here are the rules:

  1. You need to own the stroller that you submit a picture of.  No Google Image searches for this one
  2. Just in case, if you’re the winner, we may ask that you bring your old stroller into the store to prove that that heaping ball of duct tape is really yours
  3. In case you were wondering, your old stroller doesn’t have to have been purchased at Wild Child
  4. Should you be selected as the winner, we’ll do our best to accommodate your color preference based on in-stock availability only.
  5. And finally, if you’re the winner, the grand prize (the stroller) may not be exchanged for cash or any other merchandise.
