It’s that time of year where we all start to take vacations! Whether your travelling near or far, it can be hard to travel with toddlers and young kids who are constantly on the move. Not only are they wiggly and squirmy, but they’re into everything. That means you have to be on your toes to keep little ones safe and out of danger.
We’ve had the I Candy stroller in the store for a few months now, so we’ve had plenty of time to play around with it ourselves and get feedback from customers. While we carry the iCandy Cherry as well, let’s just talk about the I Candy Apple and Pear for now. I’ll get to the Cherry in another post.
iCandy is a UK-based company and according to our sales rep the iCandy strollers are among the most popular strollers there. Recently, iCandy has come to the US, bringing with it a just a few of their stroller models.
The iCandy Apple is a single stroller and the Pear is their double stroller (get it? Pear – Pair, haha). These two strollers are also related to one another, in that, you can turn the Apple (single) stroller into the Pear (double), by buying the Pear Conversion Kit. Or you can just buy the Pear on it’s own, as a double. I love single strollers that can convert to doubles! It’s so convenient for those families that know they’re going to have a second child!
The iCandy Apple:
- Stroller Weight: 23lbs
Dimensions (Open): 36″L x 24″W x 38″L
Dimensions (Folded): 36″L x 24″W x 13.5″H - Seat unit suitable from 6 months
- Lightweight, corrosion-resistant aluminum chassis
- All-around suspension – you can really feel what a difference the suspension makes!
- Easy-fold mechanism – 2 handed fold, similar to the Uppababy Vista, but a little easier
- Swivel or fixed front lockable wheels
- Extra large shopping basket – LOVE this! It’s very accessible
- Graco SnugRide infant car seat adapter frame available (sold separately, not compatible with Graco SnugRide 32 version)
- Two year manufacturing warranty
- 3 seat recline positions, in addition to forward facing and rearward facing seat modes
- Large rear wheels with air-filled tires – this makes for a smooth ride! Great for New England winters!
- Adjustable soft touch comfy grip handle bar with choice of 7 positions – the tallest stroller handlebar in the industry, which is great for tall parents!
- Zip pocket on rear of seat unit – this is a small pocket for a few items, good for money, keys, phone, etc.
- Freestanding when folded – nice for when you’re trying to get it in and out of the car
- Hood, bumper bar, car seat adapter, bassinet (Sold Separately)
To turn the iCandy Apple into a double stroller – the iCandy Pear – you either buy stroller as a double already (if you’re having twins or already have two kids) or you purchase the Apple to Pear conversion kit:
When you purchase the conversion kit you get: 2 seats, a new set of front wheels (double front wheels instead of just two single front wheels) and the additional frame piece (the PIP converter) that the two seats sit on.
iCandy Pear: this stroller has most of the same features as the Apple
- twenty practical combinations to arrange the seats, bassinets, car seats, etc
- Maxi-Cosi Mico and Graco upper and lower infant car seat adapters available (sold separately, not compatible with Graco SnugRide 32 version)
- Unique rearward facing seat units available for both infants
- Lightweight, corrosion-resistant aluminum chassis weighing only 15lbs (including wheels and shopping basket)
- Adjustable soft touch comfy grip handle bar with choice of 7 positions- tallest on the market!
- Two year manufacturing warranty
- Fully independently reclining seats in forward or rearward facing modes
- Large rear wheels with air-filled tires
- Available for twins as a stand alone option
- Compact folded size – similar to single pushchair
- Can be used as a single pushchair at any time
- All-around suspension
- coordinating accessories available
The only thing about the Pear that you have to be ‘ok’ with is the fact that you have to take off both seats and the PIP converter to fold the stroller. It sort of makes it a 3 step fold.
Jessica over at Raising Twins loves her iCandy Pear! Check out what she has to say!‘
Both the iCandy Apple and Pear strollers are great, rugged, and sturdy. They will certainly stand the test of time and take a beating from kids. It’s also just a great stroller to push!
While we don’t carry baby furniture at Wild Child right now, we do carry Naturepedic mattresses. We like the Naturepedic brand because they have committed to creating mattresses that are free from hazardous chemicals that are usually found in conventional mattresses. You’re getting a much more natural and non-toxic alternative for your kids and babies.
I find it refreshing and exciting that Naturepedic follows these priorities in the production of their mattresses:
Priority #2: No allergenic materials.
Priority #3: Practical design (e.g. easy-to-clean waterproof cover).
Priority #4: Natural, organic and renewable materials wherever possible.
Priority #5: Third party independent testing and verification.
Just wanted to let everyone know that we have a (just one, so far) Sunshine Kids Radian XTSL in stock now!! Whoo Hoo!!
This seat is awesome because of it’s internal steel frame, side impact head protection, and slim design. With the Radian car seats you can fit 3 of them across in your back seat…yes, way!
Kari over at A Giveaway Addicted Mommy had this to say about the Radian XTSL:
“Everyone that sees this car seat mentions something they like about the design. It looks great and comfortable. It sits low enough, and the sides are not so high, that Jake can reach things on the seat next to him which helps on those long rides as Jake can help entertain himself. It also sits high enough so that he can see out the window.”
I couldn’t agree more with her assessment of the Sunshine Kids Radian XTSL seat. It’s just plain awesome!
One thing to keep in mind however is how it fits in YOUR car…the safest seat for your child is the one that not only fits well in your car, but also fits your baby well. That’s why we recommend that you come in and try our floor model out in your car to make sure that every thing is hunky-dorey.

We’ve got some awesome strollers and accessories back in stock!
The ever popular Baby Jogger City Mini in orange is in; plus we have the City Mini Child Tray! Woo hoo!
You may be wondering whether or not you need a child tray or just a belly bar (a belly bar is just a padded bar that would go across the seat of the stroller – with no tray attached). This is really up to you. I do think that having something there is nice. It gives babies something to hold on to and a lot of babies will grab onto the tray or bar to pull themselves up so they can see out better. More conveniently, the Child Tray or Belly Bar is a great spot to attach some toys so you’re constantly not picking them up as you’re strolling.
The Maclaren Quest Sport stroller is also here! I have to say that I really love the Maclarens…they’re well made, they fold up very compactly, and they’re just all around nice to push. Plus Maclaren has been making umbrella stroller FOR-EVER! The Quest Sport is great because it has a cushy seat that reclines and a foot rest that folds or extended, depending on how long your baby’s legs are. Oh, and the rain cover is included!
If you’re looking to compare strollers, we now have the Maclaren Volo on the floor! The Volo is Maclaren’s most basic umbrella stroller. It just has a simple fabric seat, with no recline. I would compare it directly to the Uppababy G-Lite. Rain cover included too!
And finally, we have the Maclaren Easy Traveller!! This is perfect for parents and babies that are still in the infant seat. This stroller is really just a frame with a HUGE basket. So you just clip on the infant car seat and you’re off and strolling. If you’re in and out of the car a lot then this type of stroller is really awesome.
I really love the clothes and gear that Title Nine has to offer women. Everything is totally functional while still being stylish and sporty. When the catalog arrives in my mailbox every couple months I peruse it a few times pondering what I want!
That’s why I was pleasantly surprised yesterday when I received a catalog from Bounce. It seems like Bounce is a new section of their business focused solely on bras and undies. From what I can tell, they’ve expanded their collection of underwear and added

Phil & Teds must have really listened to customer and retailer feedback when desinging the Explorer. It’s totally awesome.
The new P&T Explorer will be replacing the discontinued Sport, which makes sense given the updates they’ve made:
