It’s been a couple weeks since we announced our big move.  In that time, we’ve done A LOT!! Our new location has been completely transformed into a Wild Child approved space.  With the help of very good friends and family, we revamped the space and set up shop in record time.

I’m so excited to officially be open at 5 Medford St (just a 2 minute walk from the old store)!  Even before opening we started to receive many well wishes and words of support from the community.  And really, community is what it’s all about…being active and present in the community, supporting local events and getting to know our neighbors and customers…that’s what we hope to do in our new store.

Our official grand opening will be the weekend of July 31st!  The winner of our “Old Stroller Photo Contest” will be announced on July 31…so get your photos in by this Friday because voting will begin this coming Saturday!!  We’ll also have a couple other fun things going on so stay tuned.

We’ve also partnered up with the Arlington Children’s Theater (ACT)! This is such a great organization dedicated to creating positive theatrical experiences for children aged 4 through 18.  On July 31, they will kick off their 2010 summer season with Beauty and the Beast Jr, Once On This Island, and Rent School Edition.  All shows will be held right next door to Wild Child at the Regent Theater!  How cool is that?!

Before...

After! WOW!

Wondering where we are, exactly?

To celebrate our big move to 5 Medford St (just a 2 minute walk from our old location) we’re hosting a stroller contest, where the winner will receive a 2010 Uppababy Vista!  Yes, a real 2010 Uppababy Vista, you heard me right.

We know there are a lot of people out there who put their strollers through its paces, which is why this contest is perfect!

If you have an old, worn out, beat up stroller, that’s been with you through thick and thin, through clean kids, and filthy dirty kids, around the block a million times, or through the gauntlet and back, then submit a photo of your stroller to have a chance at winning a brand new one!

Here are the rules:

  1. You need to own the stroller that you submit a picture of.  No Google Image searches for this one
  2. Just in case, if you’re the winner, we may ask that you bring your old stroller into the store to prove that that heaping ball of duct tape is really yours
  3. In case you were wondering, your old stroller doesn’t have to have been purchased at Wild Child
  4. Should you be selected as the winner, we’ll do our best to accommodate your color preference based on in-stock availability only.
  5. And finally, if you’re the winner, the grand prize (the stroller) may not be exchanged for cash or any other merchandise.

Wild Child is moving! We are so excited to finally announce that Wild Child will be moving to a new location!!  It’s only a 2 minute walk from where we are now but this new spot is going to be awesome!

Those who’ve visited the store know that for the past 5 years we’ve been in a unique location where we share space with two other businesses, Isis Parenting, and Helena’s Boutique.  While that location has been great so far, it’s time for us to strike out on our own and occupy our very own space…it’s kind of like getting your own bedroom after sharing with your siblings!

For our customers familiar with Arlington Center, you’ve probably driven or walked by our new home many times already.  We’ll be located at 5 Medford St, just off Mass. Ave and nestled between the Regent Theater, H&R Block and Starbucks.  We love this new spot because we’ll be surrounded by tons of fun local business like:

  • Chilly Cow – they make amazing homemade ice cream!
  • The Book Rack – a great local book store; you can even trade in old books there
  • The Regent Theater – they’ve always got a great schedule of music and entertainment shows year-round for adults and kids
  • Chef Co’s – a brand new Chinese restaurant…I’ll be trying it out tonight!
  • Gail Ann’s Coffee – cute local coffee shop that’s been around forever
  • Pink Dolly – great consignment clothes for women and children

These are just a few of the great things that Arlington Center has to offer.  Now more than ever, it’s so important to support local business, that’s why we want to be in the thick of the Arlington local business ‘scene!’

It’s been a lot of hard work – that we’re pretty much doing all ourselves! (If anyone has questions about how to lay flooring, I can’t help you there too!)  But the results will be well worth it and we can’t wait to show off the store in just a couple weeks!

We’ll be announcing fun promos and events to celebrate our opening.  Save the date for our Official Grand Opening on July 31st!!

Sidewalk sale this saturday

It’s going to be a gorgeous weekend, so the weather lady says.  That means it’s a great weekend to have a summer sidewalk sale!  This coming Saturday, Wild Child and Helena’s will be partnering up for a combined sale.  We’ll both have tons of last season’s stuff to pick from all of which will be on SALE!

For those of you who haven’t been to Wild Child yet, Helena’s is a great women’s and maternity store.  They have tons of fashionable clothes and accessories from some of the hippest brands.  Helena’s also happens to be right next door to Wild Child.  And when I say right next door, I mean that literally – we share the same building.

So it’s been a painful few months as we’ve had word of delay after delay from our dear friends down in Hingham, MA.  Some of this relates to the shipping issues that we posted about earlier.  I have a lot to say on the topic of Uppababy shipping delays, but I’ll spare everyone the rant.

We do have great news, though!  Uppababy is starting to get back on track with their orders, which means they’re back in stock here at Wild Child in Arlington.  Yup, that’s right… we’ve got stock of Uppababy Vistas.  Man it feels good to say that given that it’s been about three months.

Blue is back!

Uppababy Vista Myles

In other Uppababy news, they are releasing a limited quantity of the Myles color (blue) in the next month or two.  Awesome news for us New Englanders, who happen to love the color blue.  If you’re interested in getting one I suggest you act fast because they are limiting the quantity they produce, though they haven’t indicated how many will be available.  The price remains at 679.99, same as all other Vista models with the exception of the special edition in Maya (yellow), which has that gorgeous graphite-colored frame.  I just can’t resist the urge to post it’s picture, too.  You can order it for $699.99.

LizzyLoo rack at Wild ChildIt is harder and harder to find ways to support local businesses, especially local entrepreneurs, which is why we love LizzyLoo Designs.  Cute, even adorable patterns perfectly selected for local appeal shine through in the t-shirts and dresses made close by in Acton, MA.

I discovered the line when I was at working with a kids clothing rep in Dedham, MA.  Initially, I was drawn to their fun, vibrant colors.  As usual, I asked where they were made and found out they’re local!  Bonus!  I had to have them in the store.

Just yesterday a little girl picked out the purple starfish dress (on the right in the picture) and loved it so much that she wore it home!

Come check out the items I picked out at the store here in Arlington, MA!  And by the way, have any other local clothing makers you think I should be carrying?  Let me know in the comments below.  Thanks!
