Mark your calendars to set aside an hour every Friday from 1-2pm for story time at Wild Child!
I’m so excited to be kicking off the Wild Child Reading Hour this week! The is a partnership between Wild Child and our neighbors, The Book Rack. The Book Rack has generously provided us with the books for our reading hour. A huge THANK YOU to them!
Reading to kids is soooo important. I don’t really need to go into all the benefits and statistics behind it. But starting early by reading to your babies and toddlers will help them to value reading as they eventually learn to read themselves. Plus, reading to your little ones is a fabulous way to spend some quality one on one time with them! It’s so nice to take 5 or 10 minutes out of your hectic daily schedule to read a fun book.
Mike at The Book Rack helped me to pick out the two books for this week…but going forward, I’ll be taking suggestions!
Both of these books are appropriate for toddlers up to about age 5.
Because Steve is so proud of his shelving, I have to share this picture with everyone!
Before these awesome shelves, we had our side-by-side double strollers in the back of the store with the single strollers up front in the window. This wasn’t exactly the ideal layout, but with the move and all, it’s what we could manage.
I love these wire shelves! They’re just from the Container Store, and they’re nothing fancy that’s for sure, but they’re unobtrusive and they allow us to pack in a lot more into a small space. Also, for those of you who’ve seen the shelves that we had in our old space…these are SOOO much better!!
Big thanks to my handyman husband, Steve, for taking care of this project for us!
So we’ve had the Phil & Teds Explorer in the store for a month or so and have been able to get some feedback from customers to pass along.
In addition to all the pro’s and con’s that I mentioned in my last post, I have a few more to add.
Likes:
- you can use the car seat and the doubles kit together! I know a lot of people have used the car seat and doubles kit on the Phil & Teds Sport or Dash…but you’re really not supposed to, according to Phil & Teds. But now you can with the Explorer!
- the sun canopy has 2 pockets on the side to hide some stuff…keys, cell phone…whatever. Just don’t forget to take it out before you fold the stroller, otherwise it’ll all fall out.
- the one-handed fold is great. It’s quite easy to reach under the seat, slide the red button and squeeze the release if you’re in a hurry to go. It’s definitely an improvement on the way the Dash and Sport fold.
- there is a sun canopy on the doubles kit now! yay! Now your little one’s heads can stay shady. The canopy just snaps on so if you don’t want it, you can take it off easily.
- the foot brake is SOOOO much easier! On the Sport it was so hard to put the break on. I usually had to reach down and do it with my hand. Now it’s just a red lever down on the back axle that you just press to engage the break and lift up to take off. It’s so easy to do that you could do it with sandals on.
Dislikes:
- the mud guards feel really flimsy. They just snap on instead of having to screw them on, like on the Phil & Teds Sport and Dash, which really does make it easy. But at the same time, they feel very bendy – almost like you could snap it right off. In the scheme of things, mud guards aren’t a deal breaker.
- the doubles kit for the Phil & Teds Explorer doesn’t recline! On the Sport and Dash the seat reclines back a couple inches…which is just enough for the little ones. Now you get no recline.
- when folding the Explorer, if you want it to lock together, it’s really a two-handed job. You need the one hand to disengage the stroller, but then you need a second hand to tuck the basket under and make sure the front wheel isn’t getting in the way, so the stroller can lock together.
If you like the Phil & Ted Explorer then you should place your orders ASAP…Phil & Teds has limited quantities and will probably go on backorder anytime. Huurry!
Hopefully everyone is going to check out Arlington’s Town Day this Saturday, from 10am-3pm! It’s an even that sure to be filled with family fun!

I really love the clothes and gear that Title Nine has to offer women. Everything is totally functional while still being stylish and sporty. When the catalog arrives in my mailbox every couple months I peruse it a few times pondering what I want!
That’s why I was pleasantly surprised yesterday when I received a catalog from Bounce. It seems like Bounce is a new section of their business focused solely on bras and undies. From what I can tell, they’ve expanded their collection of underwear and added

Phil & Teds must have really listened to customer and retailer feedback when desinging the Explorer. It’s totally awesome.
The new P&T Explorer will be replacing the discontinued Sport, which makes sense given the updates they’ve made:

As of July 1, Britax discontinued their previous line of convertible car seats and introduced an updated line. Basically, they’ve simplified and streamlined their line of seats and made some really great improvements. As far as we can tell the improvements are all safety related as opposed to major cosmetic updates. Upon close inspection, it becomes obvious that the new seats have superior construction and a a very solid feel while maintaining (and in some cases improving upon) their already good looks.
