Baby Jogger City Mini Stroller vs the New City Mini GT Stroller – what are their similarities and differences?

2012 Baby Jogger City Mini GT Stroller in Black and Shadow/Orange

Ever since I returned from the ABC Kids Expo at the end of September, where I blogged about the new Baby Jogger City Mini GT Single Stroller
everyone has been asking about the differences, dimensions and what not.  So here you go…all the info I have about the new GT and how it stacks up against the regular Baby Jogger 2012 City Mini Single Stroller.

In many ways the City Mini and the City Mini GT are the same.  At quick glance they look almost identical.  The overall shape and size is practically the same.  But there are a number of features that differentiate these two strollers.

2012 Bbay Jogger City Mini GT Double

2012 Baby Jogger City Mini GT Double in Shadow/Orange

Similarities:

  • Fabric type – nylon, wipe-clean
  • Basket size – both will be easy to access in 2012.  The City Mini’s basket will be updated for 2012.
  • Awesome, quick, one-handed fold
  • automatic locking feature keeps stroller locked closed when folded
  • Plush padded seat
  • Huge canopy with peek-a-boo windows
  • Universal accessory mounting bracket – City Mini accessories will work on the City Mini GT too!
  • seat back storage compartment
  • Reclines to near-flat position – they will have the same draw-string style reclining mechanism
  • their dimensions are very similar (but not the same)
    • City Mini = 39.5″L x 24″W x 41.5″H
    • City Mini GT = 44″L x 24.5″W x 30″-43.5″H  (The GT is longer)
    • City Mini Double = 38.5″L x 29.75″W x 41.5″H
    • City Mini GT Double = 44″L x 30.5″W x 30″-43.5″H (The GT Double is longer)

2012 Baby Jogger City Mini GT in Shadow/Green

Differences:

  • the GT will be an all-terrain stroller, the City Mini is not
    • The GT will have Baby Jogger’s forever air wheel (8.5″), with these wheels you’ll have all the benefits of an air-filled tire (smooth ride over bumps, etc) with out having to worry about getting a flat
  • the GT will accommodate a heavier child
    • City Mini GT weight capacity = 65 lbs (100 lbs Double GT)
    • City Mini weight capacity = 50 lbs (100 lbs City Mini Double)
  • The GT has an adjustable handlebar, versus a fixed handlebar on the City Mini
  • The GT’s brake is on the handlebar, where as on the City Mini it’s a foot brake
  • The GT will accommodate a taller child. The seat dimensions of the GT are different than the city Mini
    • Max head height = 23″ CM single & double, 26″ GT single & double
    • Seat back = 19.5″ CM Single, 19.25″ CM Double, 21″ GT single & double
    • seat to knee = 10″ CM Single & double, 10″ GT single & double
    • shoulder width = 12.5″ CM single, 11″ CM double, 13″ GT single, 12″ GT double
    • knee to footplate = 9″ CM single & double, 10″ GT Single & double
    • width of knee = 14″ CM single and GT Single, 12.5″ CM double and GT double
    • The GT single & double gives you 3″ more of head room than the city mini
  • The GT comes in fewer colors and the stroller is mostly dark gray
  • The GT is heavier to carry…but not by much
    • City Mini = 16.8 lbs (26.6 lbs double)
    • City Mini GT = 20.9 lbs (32.5 lbs double)
  • The GT is more expensive
    • 2012 City Mini $249.99 ($449.99 double)
    • City Mini GT $349.99 ($579.99 double)

The deciding thing for me would be the weight…I love the city mini since it’s basically an umbrella stroller weight wise, but the GT will be more of a full size weight. In every other respect the GT seems awesome!

I love the city mini and so far I’ve been planning to get both a city mini and a Bob for running in my neighborhood park and sidewalks – full of bumps, etc. I would get just a Bob but I am in love with how easy & compact the city mini is. That said, is the GT version considered a jogging stroller for the best of both worlds? What stroller(s) would you recommend for someone who wants something light & easy like the CM but also wants a Bob for all terrain jogging & walking? If we bought both strollers that would be about $800 – is there a single stroller at $800 or so that marries the function of Bob and the ease of CM?

      Hi Jenn! Awesome questions!!
So the Baby Jogger City Mini GT is not a running stroller. You can do some light jogging, but it’s not meant for more than that. It’s really best at being an all-terrain walking stroller. The Bob weighs 23lbs and the GT is 20.6lbs – not too far off. However the BOB is a lot bulkier. I really love the Bob for jogging and running (the bigger wheels on the BOB make it sooo smooth and easy for running). If you really want do a lot of jogging go with the BOB. If that’s just something you’ll do occasionally, I’d say you’re good to go with the GT. There really isn’t another stroller out there, that I know of, that marries the CM and the BOB perfectly. The GT is pretty close to it though!!

      Does that help?? :-)

      thanks!

Is the GT considered a jogging stroller? I have been planning to get both the city mini and the bob se revolution so I can have something easy and light and also have a serious jogging all terrain stroller. I would love it if the Bob SE could marry the city mini and I could have just one stroller that does it all. Is there something already like this in other brands? What would you recommend?

      Thanks for commenting!
The 2012 City Mini will be available in February and the City mini GT will be available in March. I do love the new City mini because you can now get into the basket so much easier. So I guess you need to decide how much new/easier basket is worth to you. There are some great deals to be had on the 2011 CM.
      Hope that helps!
      thanks

I am also wondering about the dimensions!! I passed on the earlier versions of the City Mini because of the lack of seat depth and footrest length (very tall child). I was considering the Britax B-Agile because it offered more in these areas. Do you think the 2012 City Mini OR City Mini GT dimensions are comparable to the B-Agile?

    Thanks

    • Lauren on December 1, 2011 at 5:46 pm said:

      Hi Tina!
      Thanks for commenting!
I think the City Mini GT is going to be the most comparable to the Britax B-Agile.

City Mini vs City Mini GT:
      Max. Head Height = 23″ CM / 26″ GT
      Seat Back = 19.5″ CM / 21″ GT
      Seat to knee = 10″ CM / 10″ GT
      Shoulder width = 12.5″ CM / 13″ GT
      knee to footplate = 9″ CM / 10″ GT
      Width of knee = 14″ CM / 14″ GT

      B-Agile:
      Seat back = 20″
      Seat depth = 10″
      Seat width = 13.5″
      Shoulder width = 15″

So the B-Agile has the greatest shoulder room at 15″, but has the same seat depth as the City Mini and the GT. Based on these dimensions I would say the GT is a very close to the B-Agile. You even get more head room with the GT.
      Does that help?!

      Thanks

I have been reading a lot about the City Mini and so far think I will go with the 2012 model. I am a first time mom and our family will be moving to the East Coast (DC). I am curious just how “all-terrain” the GT is. Does this mean it will fare better in snow, sleet, rain and gravel pathways? Or will the City Mini be just as good in those weather conditions? Perhaps I’m still a little confused on what “all-terrain” practically applies to.

    • Lauren on January 1, 2012 at 2:47 pm said:

      Hi Steph!
Thanks for commenting on my blog! Happy New Year!!
Great question about the all-terrain-ness of the GT!!
You’re pretty much correct on how all-terrain it is. The GT will be great on grass, gravel, dirt trails, brick/bumpy sidewalks, rain, snow, etc. However, the GT is NOT a jogging stroller. The City Mini already had decently sized wheels that my customers have been using in our New England weather for years now. But I do think that the GT’s wheels are going to be much better suited to our weather because they’re fatter and bigger. So you’ll get through thick grass, and snow with no problems Plus, the rubbery outside just makes it a more durable wheel as compared to the foam wheel of the CM.
The GT will have the same style wheel as the City Select’s rear wheels (though the GT wheel is a little smaller).
If I were choosing between the CM and the CMGT and I was planning to walk on the grass, through some slush/snow, on some trails…I would go with the GT.

What other questions do you have??

      thanks!

Happy New Year! Great response – wow, very thorough.

So for $100 extra, the GT functionally offers better wheels, an adjustable handle, and a hand-brake, right?

What do you think about the extra weight? I’m trying to weigh out weight versus height adjustment. An adjustable handle is great since I’m 5′ tall. And I’m guessing that 21lbs is still pretty lightweight compared to other marketed strollers. What did you think of the weight difference between the CM and GT?

Also, if you compare the Select and the City Mini/Mini GT, is there a big difference in storage capacity? I’m only a tiny bit concerned about the Mini not being able to hold too many things. I’ll be using the stroller in an urban part of DC and will probably run errands w/o car, as well as go off-roading with it to parks and trails. Input?

I have never been a fan of the lack of back support. Every time I see a child in the City Mini, it looks like their shoulders are hunched. Will the 2012 GT have better back support?

    Hi!

I’m due in March and was about to purchase a City Mini 2011 when I came across this blog! I’m considering waiting for the new models or at least holding out to see if the 2011s will be heavily discounted before I buy…

I was wondering whether you had any information on how the folded dimensions with the wheel on and off compare for the CM2012 and the CMGT? I have a very small car with an incredibly shallow boot and folded size will be a deciding factor for me.

Also, would you happen to know if the release dates for the UK will be the same as the US?

Thanks for the very thorough reviews!

    • Lauren on January 6, 2012 at 3:34 pm said:

Hi Nadia!! Thank you for commenting!
First, I don’t know what the release dates are for the UK. I have talked to the folks at Baby Jogger about this and they don’t have any information either. Obviously, they’ll be releasing the new strollers over there at some point, but I have no idea when or if it will be similar to the US. SORRY!!!

So here are the dimensions that you’re looking for:
      CM folded WITH wheels = 31″L x 24″W x 9.75″H
      CM folded WITHOUT wheels = 29.25″L x 20″ W x 6.5″H
      CMGT folded WITH wheels = 31.5″L x 24.5″W x 9.75″H
      CMGT folded WITHOUT wheels = 28″L x 20″W x 6.75″H

What other questions do you have? I hope these dimensions are helpful and mean you can fit one of these strollers in your car!

      Best,

I have a BOB duallie, and really contemplating selling it and getting a GT. How would you compare the GT’s push to a BOB? I’m not really a jogger, I just love how lightweight the push is on the BOB duallie! I do hate that the BOB is so bulky for everyday errands. So I’m thinking the GT will be perfect if it pushes better than the regular city mini double. Thanks!

    • Lauren on January 11, 2012 at 4:51 pm said:

Hi Mallory!! Great questions!! Thank you!!
Ok, so here’s my totally honest opinion..we sell the BOB Duallie as well, so this is totally unbiased. Nothing pushes like a BOB!!!! Seriously!! The BOB just glides! I love it! But if you’re not running with it, then it is pretty bulky…especially if you’re in and out of the car with it a lot!
I think the GT Double will feel different as compared to the BOB. This is primarily because the GT Double has 4 wheels instead of the 3 on the BOB…this alone, will make them feel different. Comparing any 3 wheel stroller to a 4 wheel stroller will different in terms of maneuverability. Also the BOB’s wheels are a lot bigger than the GT’s, so that’s another reason for the difference. I know that the BOB feels like you can turn it with one hand…the GT will feel a little less like you can turn it with one hand.
The GT is definitely going to feel nice and smooth because of the wheels that it does have. It will feel noticeably better than the regular City Mini Double. After all, the GT’s wheels are similar to BOB’s, just not as huge.
So if you’re not going to be running with the BOB, then I think the GT Double is an awesome option. You can walk on any terrain, it fold up easily and it’s A LOT smaller than the bob.

what other questions do you have??

    Hi!
I have the City Mini (purchased in 2010 for my daughter) and it has been great for malls, grocery store, Disney World, etc. I will be purchasing the new models (both single and double), but I am deciding between the CM and the GT. My daughter is tall (18 months) so the extra room will work best for her. We are having another baby next month and he may be tall like his sister. I would just go with the GTs, but I want to make sure that considering their slightly larger size, will they fit as easily through store aisles and maneuver as easily as the CM. I am particularly concerned about the double stroller. I want to make sure the double GT will fit through doorways and most large aisles as easily as the CM double is known to.

Also, is preordering a big recommendation? When I bought the CM for my daughter, we were forced to take Orange, as the supply was very low everywhere we looked. Do you expect a shortage in Feb and March when they are released?

    Thanks!!

    • Lauren on January 16, 2012 at 10:26 am said:

Hi Ashley! Thank you for commenting!!
The CMDGT will fit just as easily through stores and aisles as the CMD. It’s only 3/4″ wider so I don’t anticipate any difficulties. In fact, when I saw the CMDGT in person it felt exactly the same size as the CMD. The CMD fits easily through our doorway here at the store, with plenty of room to spare, so the CMDGT will be totally fine.
The seat dimensions of the CMDGT and the single GT are slightly larger than the CMD and the CM. So I think going with the single/double GT will be great for your taller kids. (see the dimensions that I listed in the blog post).
I do suggest ordering sooner rather than later, as I do think at some point the 2012 strollers will go on back order and there will be shortages. I just don’t know how quickly that will happen. To be on the safe side I would suggest allowing your self a 3-4 week window to receive the stroller before you actually need it.
What other questions do you have??

      Best,

    Hello!

I am loving the reviews of the new stroller…

I have the BOB Revolution now for my dd, but I am expecting at the end of April, so I’m looking for the ideal double stroller… I love, love, love my BOB, so I want the Duallie so badly, but I had a hard time fitting the single in my Jeep, so I am nervous that the double won’t fit. How much smaller is the City Mini/City Mini GT when folded up than the BOB? I imagine a lot, because the BOB is massive when folded, in my opinion!

I did run sometimes with my BOB, but mostly, it was very fast, intense walking on the roads and sometimes on our forest trails… I still want the option of getting a very good workout with my stroller, by means of fast walking (I can’t imagine I will try to jog while pushing both babies, so I will keep the single for that). Do you think that the City Mini would be good enough for some intense walking around town and maybe even on trails? I live in a northern area with lots of snow, so I’d love it to be able to tackle pavement, sand, snow and slush. Can the Mini do that, even when not the GT?
I often took my BOB to the stores and would easily fill my basket with my groceries or other purchases. Mind you, it was very heavy to push home, so I can’t imagine I will do it often with the double, but it’s still an option I like. Do you think I could as fit much in the basket of the City Mini/City Mini GT as I could the BOB?
I think my problem is that I am in love with the green and grey 2011 City Mini… I want that one so badly, that I am getting swayed from my devotion to the BOB… Would the City Mini be able to tackle the terrain I mentioned and hold things in the basket below? Or am I better off getting the GT, or should I stick with my BOB?
    Thanks!

Hi Sarah! Wow! There are many things to answer here!!
Just to clarify, you need a double stroller, right? You mention the CM and the CMGT, but I’m assuming you mean the CM Double and the CM GT double.

Basically, it sounds like you need a BOB Duallie or the City Mini Double GT (CMDGT)…my primary recommendation is the CMDGT if you’re trying to save bulk and space.
If you want to do any kind of walking (fast or slow) on a terrain other than a paved sidewalk then I would go with the CMDGT. The CMD CAN get through snow and slush, but the CMDGT will get through much better and easier!! Wild Child is located just outside of Boston, so we know snow and slush…and strollers with bigger, fatter wheels (like the BOB or the CMDGT) manage getting through that kind of muck a lot better!

The baskets on the BOB Duallie and the CMD or the CMDGT are fairly similar. The CMD and CMDGT baskets are deeper than the Duallie (they have much higher sides). I would guess that you could fit at least the same amount of stuff in the duallie as you can in the CMD and CMDGT. On the 2012 CMD and CMDGT will be much easier to access, which is a great change!! Otherwise, on the 2011 CMD you the basket will be the same size as the 2012 but will be harder to get bigger items in and out. So that’s something to really consider, in terms of 2012 vs 2011.

So, like I said before, (and based on what you say you like to do) I would strongly consider the CMDGT…or the BOB Duallie, but it sounds like that won’t fit in your car!

I’m going to email you a couple pics of the folded BOB Duallie next to the folded City Mini Double so you can see the difference in size.

what other Q’s do you have??

      Best,
      lauren

    Hi Lauren,
thanks so much for having so much info on the cmgd!

i had totally ruled out the current citi mini double and was gng for the dbl Mt Buggy, and now im not sure what to do!
we live in an area with hardly any side walks, so lots of gravel and grass, and lots of hills and we walk quite alot!
i was just wondering what ur thoughts are on the new wheels on the cmgd.
will it be much easier to push, is it at all comparable to 12″ air tyres?
also do u know the weight of the cmgd double
    thanks very much

    • Lauren on January 22, 2012 at 8:55 pm said:

      Hi Rivka!
I think you’re right on to be considering both the Mountain Buggy and the CMDGT. Which MB are you considering? The Duet (narrow side by side), Duo (side by side) or the Plus One (inline double)? Based on the other info you mention, I think you’re considering the MB Duo.
Anyway, if you’re walking through thick gravel (or sand), then a stroller with bigger wheels will always be easier to push through it. The CMDGT has 8.5″ wheels, which will make it great for most of the other terrain you’re trying to get through. If you’re talking about a gravel path, where the gravel is pretty packed-down, then I would say either stroller would be great.
The CMDGT’s tires are not a true air-filled tire. They’re made to simulate an air-filled tire, but with out the maintenance. So you would never get a flat tire. For the most part I don’t think you’d feel a difference between the MB and the CMDGT. Except if you’re in really thick terrain (like thick gravel, sand, etc)…where bigger wheels are generally better.
      The CMDGT is 32.5lbs.
What other questions do you have?

Hi, I have a very tall toddler that just turned two and a five week old and am looking to buy a double stroller. I’ve narrowed it down to the gt double or britax b-ready but am having a hard time deciding between them. We live in NYC so do a lot of walking as well as errands. I like the britax for the flexibility it offers seat-wise and because it is narrower for fitting in doors, but everyone loves the city mini and I do like the huge sun canopy and that both kids can see out vs. the second seat view on the b-ready. Thanks for any thoughts you have! And also specifically which one you think is better for tall kids.

Hi Lauren- I have been obsessing over which double stroller to purchase. I have a big 21 month old and due any day with #2. I already have a bob single and an uppababy vista, and I use them every day, so that is what I am used to. For the double, I had narrowed it down to the Bob Duallie, CMD, and the Bumbleride Indie Twin. After test driving each stroller in the store, I decided on the CMD because of how city-friendly it is and how small it is folded up. My toddler also fit in the stroller really well. A few things that I didn’t like- the hard to access basket, the plastic wheels, and the fact that my husband and I are tall and we had to be careful not to kick the bar between the back wheels. Even with those things, it was still my top choice. Now I came across your review of the 2012 CMDGT and I am excited! These new features seem to address each of my issues. A few questions for you-

I have reviewed the folded and unfolded dimensions of the CMD and the CMDGT and it seems like the GT is a bigger (longer) stroller than the CMD but almost the same size as the CMD when folded. Is that true?

The Bob Duallie is supposedly 30.5 inches wide, which is the same width as the CMDGT and that concerns me. The Duallie feels huge in person and I really liked the smaller width of the CMD. Are the CMDGT and the Bob Duallie the same width? I am concerned about getting through 30” doors in the city with a stroller that is 30 inches or wider.

I read that the CMDGT does not have the straps for a more upright seat position like the CMD. What is the angle of the seat of the CMDGT in the most upright position? My toddler likes to sit upright and prefers the Uppababy Vista over the Bob for this reason.

Do you have 2012 models of the CMD and CMDGT on display if I were to come into the store to test them out?

    Thank you!

      Hi Margo!
      Thank you for commenting!

So most business doorways are wider than 30″…or at least they should be to accomodate handicapped customers. Our doorways are all about 35″ wide…I would think that you will be fine getting in and out of businesses around town. The doorways in your home might be a different issue, as those are typically narrower. Our bob duallie fits through our doorway – no problem!!

I think the BOB Duallie feels huge because of how long it is. Not to mention, the fact that it sort of has a pointy nose where the front wheel is. To me, the width of the stroller isn’t really what makes it feel big…because, as you mentioned, it’s the same width as the CMDGT. Also, the BOB Daullie has really large wheels in the back, which probably creates an optical illusion that it’s bigger than it really is.
The CMDGT is longer than the CMD, partially because it has bigger wheels. Yes, when it’s folded the CMDGT and CMD are practically the same size.

The CMDGT does not have the Upright Straps. The angle of the CMDGT seat in the most upright position would be the same as the CMD (if the CMD seat is in it’s most upright postion, NOT utilizing the upright straps). As for the angle in degrees, I’m sorry, I don’t have that. THe CMD and CMDGT seats definitely sit more upright than the BOB. Since you’ve seen the CMD in person, do you remember how upright the seat sits?

I don’t have the 2012 CMD or CMDGT strollers in the store yet – Baby Jogger hasn’t released them yet. The 2012 CMD will not be out for a little while (June) and the CMDGT is expected to start shipping out at the end of March. For 2012 the CMD has a few updates, but the frame and size of the stroller will remain the same. So if you’ve tested out the 2011 CMD then that’s largely what it will be like for 2012. The CMD updates are to the basket accessibility, automatic latch and color choices.

what other questions do you have??

        Hi Lauren,

Thanks for your response. The uppababy vista is my primary stroller and I use my bob occasionally. I love the vista! Which do you think would feel the most similar to me – the CMDGT or the CMD? I know the wheels on the CMD are more like an umbrella stroller, so I suspect the CMDGT would probably be most similar or maybe even smoother than the vista. Also, are you accepting pre-orders on the CMD and CMDGT and if so, when will you have an updated shipping date estimate? I am due soon with baby #2 and would like the stroller ASAP. Availability might impact my decision.

        Thank you!

The CMDGT will be available at the end of March. I suggest ordering quickly to make sure you can get one with in a reasonable amount of time! I’m guessing they’ll go on back order at some point! the 2012 CMD won’t be available until about June. But there are still 2011 CMD’s…we still have some and still order them from Baby Jogger.

            this was it…

Hi Kathy!! Congrats on being a 1st time mom! So exciting!!
The CMTGT wheels are far superior to the BBA. Hands down. They’re just much higher quality. The CMGT wheel is a foam wheel with a rubber outside, so it gives you the feeling of an air-filled tire (nice smooth ride) with out the maintenance (putting air in, potentially getting a flat, etc.) The BBA wheel is just a simple foam wheel.
Both the BBA and CMGT have wheels that just snap on. They’re easily removable.
If you’re an urban New England mom you might be near by to us!! Wild Child is in Arlington, MA! If you’re close you should stop in and say hi!
From the sounds of where you’ll be walking, I’m leaning toward the CMGT. The CMGT is an all-terrain walking stroller because of its wheels. So if you’ll be walking in sometimes snowy and bumpy conditions it will be great!
So the car seat adapters are interesting. The Baby Jogger car seat adapters are not yet compatible with the Britax B-Safe car seat. I’ve tried the B-Safe on the BJ adapter thinking it should work and it doesn’t. You’ll need to think about how much you like the B-Safe seat, as it sounds like that may impact your decision. I do love the adapter that comes with the BA…it’s so easy, low profile and I especially love how the B-Safe fits with it. The CMGT adapter is different and bigger, bit I don’t find it clumsy. Both adapters are safe and have passed the requisite safety testing, so in that regard they are the same to me.
The BA harness is nice to use. And compared to the CMGT harness it’s different and maybe a little quicker. The CMGT just takes a little bit longer to adjust because the buckles (where you would adjust the length) on the harness are very tight and it takes a moment to loosen them so you can adjust the size. The quick adjustable part of the BA harness adjusts the height of the harness. You still have to slide the buckles on the harness itself to adjust the length. So in some ways they’re very very similar. Plus, you won’t be adjusting the harness everyday…just occasionally.
Both Baby Jogger and Britax make child trays for these strollers that have a cup/bottle holder. I think both work great. I would also recommend a bottle tether or something like that to keep your little one from throwing the bottle out of the stroller. BA Child tray and Baby Jogger City Mini Child Tray. Yes, you could just throw your own water bottle in the storage bin.
The BA is 16.5lbs and the CMGT is 21lbs. So that’s a difference of 4.5 lbs…is that doable for you?

what other questions do you have??

            best,

    Hi Lauren,

Can you tell me the differences between the CMDGT and a Mountain Buggy Duo? I have a 2.5 year old and a 2 month old. I need a stroller for walking on uneven pavement, occasionally grass, and I would like it to be portable enough for air travel and errands around town.
    Thanks!
    Valerie

    • Lauren on January 30, 2012 at 12:53 pm said:

      Hi Valerie,
Based on what you’ve mentioned about how you’ll use the stroller either the Duo or the CMDGT would be good. However, if you will be travelling through airports a lot…I would recommend the CMDGT, as it’s easy and compact fold will be a lifesaver in that situation.

Here are some of the key differences between the CMDGT and the Duo:
      - Duo has bigger (12″) air filled tires, CMDGT has an 8.5″ tire that feels like an air-filled tire but with out the maintenance
      - Duo weighs 36lbs, CMDGT is 32.5 lbs
      - Duo has a shorter canopy
      - Duo will stand when folded
      - Duo is not as compact when folded (sorry I don’t have the folded dimensions of the duo handy)
      - Duo comes with a belly bar, on the CMDGT you can add that on if you would like
      - Duo is $680, CMDGT is $580
      - Duo is 29″ wide, CMGT is 30.5″

what other questions do you have??

      thanks!

Before I commit to the MBDGT I just want to make sure it will be suitable for fast power walking on uneven pavement. That is really what I will be using it for the most often. (air travel about 2 times a year) I know the air tires will be good for that, but does the size matter? Will it still be smooth enough for the kiddos compared to the bigger tires of a MB Duo or the 2011 BJ Elite?

This question was posted earlier and I do not see the response but I have the same questions:

Input?

    • Lauren on January 31, 2012 at 1:34 pm said:

      Hi Guru,
Yes, you are correct in what you get for $100. A couple other things you get (which are more minor): a seat that can accomodate a taller child and an increased capacity (65lbs for the GT, vs 50lbs for the city mini).

To me the weight of the GT (20.9lbs) is still pretty light and doesn’t bother me in comparison to the CM. Most other single strollers are 25lbs or more. So a 21lbs stroller still feels light to me. Plus, the ease and convenience of how it folds also contributes to a feeling a potability that other strollers just don’t have!

I can see how the adjustable handlebar would be important to you. The CM handlebar is at 41.5″ and the GT’s adjustable handlebar is 30″-43.5″.

The Select definitely has a bigger storage basket. It’s much longer than the CM/GT. If it had to guess, the select basket might be about double the size. However, the new 2012 CM and GT the basket access has been significantly improved so you’ll actually be able to get a bag in there. The basket is a good size on its own. If you’re out and about and need the basket to hold your diaper bag plus whatever you’ve picked up along the way (groceries, etc) then the CM/GT basket would be a tight fit as compared to the Select.

What other Questions do you have?
      thanks

    Hi Lauren,

Thanks for all the great info! We’re having our first in May and I’ve been torn between the CM and the Elite — loved the all terrain wheels and upgraded bells and whistles on the Elite, but was a little nervous about the size. Plus we live in Alaska for now and I haven’t ever been able to see the Elite in person. The GT seems like it will solve a lot of my issues with the bigger more plush seat, adjustable handlebar, and all terrain wheels. My question for you is what are we still missing out on if we go with the GT over the Elite? Is the recline the same between the two? Oh and I don’t plan on doing much (any?) jogging with the stroller.
    Thanks!

Hi Kelly!! Great questions, thank you!!
I was just telling another person that I will write up a blog post comparing the Elite to the GT with lots of pics. I’m on vacation now, so I won’t be able to get to that until tuesday. But, in general the Elite is a bigger version of the GT. I think you’re right to be concerned about the size of the Elite…it’s a bigger stroller than the GT. However, it really only has a couple extra bells and whistles…none of which are super major, in my mind. What the Elite has that the GT doesn’t is: a small parent console by the handlebar, bigger wheels (better for jogging), taller handlebar. Aside from that, the Elite is really a longer, wider, taller, heavier stroller, as compared to the GT. If you’re not going to be jogging, I would steer you to the GT.
What other questions do you have??

    Hi there,

I see that there is an adjustable handlebar on the GT, which you say is great for taller parents. It looks to me like it just rotates in place, rather than telescoping. The higher height looks like it would bring your feet closer to the stroller, especially on a taller parent. It seems like this would have a tall person kicking the lower bar more easily. Have you had tall people walk around with the GT, and did the way it adjust interfere with walking?

    Thanks,
    Susan

    • Lauren on February 14, 2012 at 2:47 pm said:

      Hi Susan,
The handlebar on the GT does rotate, rather than telescope. And you are right, in theory the rotating handlebar would bring you closer to the stroller when it’s in its highest position. We don’t have a GT floor model yet, as they are not shipping until March. But from what I’ve seen from other strollers and from the city mini is that you just have to try it out to know what it’s going to be like walking with it. I’ve had many many tall parents purchase the CM and not have a problem with kicking the lower bar in the back. So I can’t say that across the board a tall parent is going to kick the GT when the handlebar is up. Everyone is different.
Let me know what other questions you have!!

I have the same question as Susan about taller parents kicking the back bar, that was the problem my 6’2″ husband had with the 2011 BJCM. Do you have a floor model now and have someone taller trying it? Unless our local BRU carries it (which is probably not likely… they didn’t know anything about b-safe last time I went in to look a month ago), the closet store is 1.5 hours away for us to try… debating between the b-agile and GT (if it’s worth the $100 extra for the better wheels.)

    hi Lauren,

Your blog is amazing! I live north of Boston and I can’t believe I’ve never heard of your store before! Your detailed advice is invaluable! I am due in august with my 2nd, so I have plenty of time to shop, but I’m doing my research early. I’ll have a newborn and a 21 month old at that point. I have an older BOB for my dd and like it’s all terrain ability and ease of pushing. I don’t like it’s bulk or the lack of seat support and recline (this is an old one though, 2007). I also hate lifting it into the back of suv. Umph! I’m looking at primarily the CMDGT and the bumbleride indie twin. Important features: all terrain walking (bumpy sidewalks, sand, slush), ease of maneuvering in shopping areas, easy access to under baskets (!!), ability to fold and lift into suv, very protective canopies for sun and rain, and nice sleek appearance. Which of these two would fit the bill? Worth noting my dd is already on the tall side. I’m sure I’ll be in to the store in a few months, can’t wait! Thank you!

      Hi Nicole!!
Please do stop into the store to say hi!!! We’d love to meet you and talk strollers! ;-)
Here are my thoughts…Both the CMDGT and BR are great strollers and have all the features that you’re looking for.
      – basket accessibility – even thought the CMDGT’s basket will be so much easier to get to than on the 2011 CMD, it’s still not as open as the BR’s basket.
      – ease of maneuverability – to me both are easy to maneuver.
      – all terrain capability – both are all terrain. The BR has bigger wheels than the CMDGT, so on sand/at the beach it will be better. The bigger the wheel the easier it is to get through thick terrain. the CMDGT will be great on bumpy sidewalks, trails, grass, slush, etc, as will the BR. They’ll both get through the sand, thought the BR might be a little better for that purpose.
      – Fold and getting it in the car – the CMDGT is hands down easier to fold than the BR. When folded the BR is a big stroller and much bulkier than the CMDGT. If this is a TOP priority for you, then I would go with the CMDGT, as it will be much easier to manage getting in/out of your car…plus, it’ll take up less room.
      – Canopies – both offer awesome coverage, so to me they’re the same
      – sleek appearance – both are cool looking!! I think the BR looks a litte more plush and fancy as compared to the CMDGT. But the CMDGT looks sport and cool.

If you think your current BOB is a beast to get in the car, then that makes me think you would prefer the CMDGT.

what are your top, top priorities in a stroller?
what other Q’s do you have??

      Thanks!

One more question about color. I have a little girl and so I’m wondering if the green might seem too boyish. I don’t like the orange and the yellow seems like it could be too bright. Do you remember it to be a really bright yellow or kind of a grayish yellow? Thanks so much!!

    • Steve on February 19, 2012 at 10:31 am said:

      Hi Lana!!
Since the CMGT is mostly a grey stroller I don’t think that the accent colors (like the green) are really going to make a difference in terms of cool/hotness. The green accent is just 3 stripes of color on the canopy. I think you should choose the color you like the best.
I’ve heard recently that there may be a chance that the GT’s will be in sooner than the end of march, but i can’t say exactly when!! It could be tight for your 3/14 trip.

Hi Nicole! Due on Tuesday!! WOW! Congratulations!!!
Just as an FYI the CMD may not be available until July…so I can understand why you’re looking at alternatives. I’m guessing that you like all of the features of the CMD. If so, then the CMDGT is a great alternative, as it’s VERY similar!! Aside from that, there’s not too much else I would suggest, considering the fact that you have a 3 year old. How big is your 3 year old? Have you taken a look at the CIty Select (in-line single to double stroller)? I love it, but my concern would be the seat size for your 3yo. The CMDGT will be shipping from Baby Jogger in Mid/late-March…if you ordered now, you might be able to have it by very early April.

I guess my first question is is it worth it for me to invest in the gt if we will be on paved surfaces? And if there is anything in general u would recommend

          Hi Nicole,
The CMD is 26.6lbs vs the CMDGT that’s 32.5lbs…so a few pounds different. Off the top of my head, I don’t know of anything else that would accomodate your kids AND be lighter in weight. If you’re just walking on sidewalks and other paved surfaces, then the CMD would be great for that.

hi, i walk for about an hour everyday. the BJ website says the CMGT is not suitable for for power walking – so I am a bit concerned about this and started considering the BJ elite. Do you think the BJ CMGT would be suitable for long walks on foot paths and parks? thanks!

    • Lauren on February 28, 2012 at 4:47 pm said:

      Hi Sim,
I’ve been looking all over the BJ website and can’t find that info…would you mind sharing where you found it. I think you should be fine walking with your CMGT for that amount of time. We have many customers who use their CM (not GT) as their only stroller and walk everywhere and the stroller is great! To me the Elite is a Cadillac compared to the CMGT. As long as you’re walking (no running/jogging with the CMGT) you should be fine with the ELite or GT!

Weight is a concern for me and storage so… Any advise is really appreciated!! Thank you – also do u have a floor model of cmd 11 for sale? Price I a little issue as well and looking around…thank u!!!

    • Lauren on March 2, 2012 at 1:09 pm said:

      Hi Holly!!
Is weight and storage your top priority?? If so, I would probably eliminate the BR Indie Twin. When it’s folded up it’s not very compact. The BR and CMDGT weight about the same (BR is 34lbs, CMDGT is 32.5lbs) but the CMDGT folds up MUCH slimmer. Also the way the CMDGT folds (which is the same as how the CMD folds) makes it easier to pop it in the trunk of your car quickly. I love the BR, but often, for me it can be awkward to pick it up (i’m 5’3″). The CMD and CMDGT will have the same amount of storage…which is comprable to the BR. However, the BR’s basket is very very open in the back, which is a plus. The CMD and CMDGT have great baskets that are very easy to access, but they’re just not quite as open as the BR. All 3 have roughly the same basket capacity. The CMDGT will be available in April, which is much sooner than the July date for the CMD. I think the CMDGT is a great alternative to the BR if you want something less bulky when folded.
I’m sorry, my CMD floor model isn’t for sale just yet (probably won’t be on sale until close to July). However, we’re always happy to price match other sites that may have the CMD listed.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

So I just bought the City Mini GT.. YAY! However, when I attempt to fold the stroller, it does not automatically latch. As a matter a fact, when I attempt to force it, it just will not lock. What am I doing wrong?!?!?!

    • Lauren on March 5, 2012 at 10:23 am said:

      Hi Tammy,
Sometimes when I fold mine it latches automatically and other times it just takes a small amount of pressure to hear it click. I have noticed that sometimes the seat fabric can get in the way of the latch engaging. As soon as I tuck the fabric in it latches. Is that what you’re experiencing?? It shouldn’t take a lot of force to get it to latch.

Can you put a newborn in the City Mini and the City Mini GT? On the Buybuybaby website, it says the new GT is for newborn to 65 lbs. There is no information on the site that tells if a newborn can be put into the older version City Mini.

      Hi Beth!
Generally, Baby Jogger recommends putting your baby in the main seat of the stroller around 6 months. But obviously development of neck muscles for head support is different in every case…so personally I might say, whenever your baby has good head control. I can’t find any specific wording in all of my Baby Jogger documentation that says the GT or CM can be used for newborns. You might have to do what feels comfortable to you…give your baby some good padding and head support and you’re ready to stroll.

      does that help?

Hi Lauren – I’m a first time mom and trying to decide between Uppa baby vista and the City mini jogger. I am most concerned with baby’s comfort/support, stroller weight, maneuverability, and ease of collapsing. Which stroller do you recommend or is there any other I should consider? Our baby is due in Zhuly. :) . Thanks for your advice!

    • Lauren on May 15, 2012 at 8:23 am said:

Hi Lauri! Both strollers are very comfortable and supportive for baby. So if you’re priorities are stroller weight, maneuverability, and ease of folding then you should go with the City Mini or perhaps the Uppababy Cruz. The City mini is lighter than the Vista (17lbs vs 25lbs), it folds with one hand, and 3 wheel strollers often feel easier to maneuver than 4 wheel strollers. Also check out the Uppababy Cruz, as it’s a lighter, easier to fold version of the Vista.

What other questions do you have??

Question for you– I have a 3mth old and a 3yr old… I am tempted to buy the CMD 2011 just because of the great price and its a great stoller. But I am hearing that the 2012 double might be worth the wait or would the CMDGT be worth buying? Also, I am concerned that my 3yr old might out grow it he is already 36″ tall. How tall of a toddler do all three of these strollers accom.?

    Thanks,

    • Lauren on June 8, 2012 at 12:41 pm said:

      Hi Melanie,
the 2011 CMD is a good price. Please keep in mind that we, Wild Child, are always happy to price match!
The CMDGT is a great stroller, but it does weigh more than the CMD…so you would need to be ok with that. The CMDGT is 32.5lbs vs the CMD at 26.6lbs. On the 2012 CMD and on the CMDGT the basket is much easier to access than on the 2011 CMD.
What I do like the about the CMDGT is that it’s an all-terrain stroller, so you can stroll anywhere. Because it’s an all-terrain stroller it has nicer wheels which will also make it feel smoother to push.
The max head height on the CMD is 23″, and on the CMDGT it’s 26″…so the CMDGT would give your big kid more head room. In general, the seats on the CMDGT are slightly bigger than on the CMD.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    • Lauren on June 6, 2012 at 9:40 am said:

      Hi Rani,
Deciding between a side by side double and an in line double is a tough choice…it’s also pretty personal, and dependent on your lifestyle and where you’ll be strolling. I love both the CMDGT and the CS. The CS is great because you can switch between using it as a single or a double. Do you think you’ll use the stroller as a single? Or want to have the option of doing that? On the other hand the CMDGT is great because it’s all-terrain, folds very slimly and can accomodate tall children.
If you’re in and out of stores a lot, many people prefer the ease of the CS because it’s not as wide as the CMDGT.
Both Strollers are great for kids at the ages that you will have.
What other questions do you have?

The GT only has a handbrake (no footbrake). The all terrain will be great in the city for bumpy sidewalks or over grass at the park, and certainly in the snow!! You’re right on track. To me the extra weight isn’t a big deal…unless maybe you have to carry it up to the 3rd floor every single time you go out…

      Hi Carlee,
      thank you for commenting!
In short, the Elite is a cadillac version of the GT. The Elite is bigger, a little heavier, a little cushier, and comes with a sort of parent console at the handlebar, and has an extendable footrest.
I can’t really say which seat your baby is going to like better. But the elite seat is just a little bit cushier than the GT…not by much, though.
The Elite dimensions are: 47″ x 26.5″ x 33-46″ Bigger than the GT.
The seat dimensions of each stroller are almost identical. They both provide the same amount of head room: 26″
If i had to choose one, I might say the Elite is a little more comfy than the GT. But it’s very close.
We have both in stock, so we hope you’ll consider shopping with Wild Child!

We have a car but the daycare is 2 blocks from our house (we live in the city) so I am planning to use the stroller when dropping off my LO. Which stroller would work better in the snow condition? I am expecting most of the sidewalks that are in the major intersections to be cleared (but you never know). Will the city mini tires work in the snow? I read that the GT has issues w/ the front wheel and also worry about the stroller tipping over on it’s own based on other reviews, plus it might be heavy. Please help. Thanks!

    • Lauren on August 14, 2012 at 6:54 am said:

      Hi Klana,
Personally, I’d probably go with the city mini gt for your all-weather conditions. I’ve never heard any feedback on the GT tipping on it’s own. Any stroller will tip over if you over load the handlebar with heavy bags. The City Mini tires will be ok in smaller amounts of snow/slush, but the GT tires will be much easier.

      Lauren

  • Natalie on September 24, 2012 at 2:35 pm said:

Also a note on the tipping over – no stroller bags should ever be put on the handle of any stroller – it will tip. I believe Baby Jogger makes a diaper bag that snaps to the side if you really want a bag for putting on the stroller.

Hi! My dilemma is between the CMGT and the Bumbleride Indie, and maybe also the Mountain Buggy Swift as well. While I want to be able to use the stroller for some indoor errands for sure (so size and ease matters), I really want something that can also thrive in these types of activities I hope to do often: gravel trails walks/hikes (dirt trails also), petting zoos, outdoor parks and gardens, indoor museums, the National Mall (I live in DC), neighborhood walks, outdoor festivals, etc. I am leaning towards the GT due to price and ease of use. However, the MB I have not been able to see in person. Saw a different MB model and loved sturdiness but some features were basic (recline mechanism) and the long fold wasn’t great but it seemed so sturdy and small and had a compromise of 10″ air tires. The BR had stylish materials, much better basket than the GT, flat recline and also really upright and moveable footrest. It’s bigger and the fold not so compact though, and the maneuverability and push of the GT was better. BUT my big worry is I will get the GT and it won’t be nearly as good on gravel trails and my baby and my hands will be jiggling and I’ll be like darn the BR would’ve been better. Your opinion??

    • Lauren on September 28, 2012 at 9:44 am said:

      Hi Lisa,
We are able to order any of the strollers you’re interested in, so we hope you’ll consider shopping with us!!
Your reviews of the 3 strollers is spot on. As are your concerns over the ‘jiggli-ness” of the GT as compared to the BR. That’s a product of different wheel size. Bigger wheels = smoother ride. I have the GT myself and love it, but it’s not quite as smooth as a BOB or BR might be (that’s ok with me). One thing to note, the GT has an ever-air tire, which means that it’s not filled with air, but has the feeling of an air-filled tire. So you won’t risk getting a flat. Pumping up tires or getting flats is something you may have to deal with with the BR or MB. If you’re just occasionally on the gravel trails, but more often at the park and walking around elsewhere, i would say go with the GT. I think the Gt will feel just a little bit more bumpy than the MB or BR, but not significantly so.
The MB Swift will feel a lot like the MB that you tested out. It’s a super sturdy stroller. But you’re right, some features are a bit basic. I don’t like how long it is when folded either.
What’s your top priority in a stroller??? I think your baby will feel some jiggling no matter what…it’s just to what degree will she jiggle. The reason I chose the GT was because I wanted an all terrain stroller…but didn’t want something huge. So for me my top priority was size and I compromised a little bit on the ‘all-terrain-ness’, if you will, by going with a stroller that had smaller tires.
Are you looking for a reason to go with the BR because that’s the one you really want? :-) it’s not that big when folded.
If you’re looking for my suggestion…I’d go with the GT. with the BR a close 2nd.
Please let me know if you have any other questions!
      Best,
      Lauren

But in the US there will be a crimson/shadow color added for 2013. This should be available some time in January. Also, the Shadow/black color will be changes to all black. That may be available in some time in march.

    Hi Lauren,

I’m trying to decide between the City Mini, the City Mini GT and the mountain buggy swift. I live in the city and want a pram that is light, compact, easy to fold and steer, and is suitable for the sidewalks and pavements and occasionally grass. I will be using it from newborn to infant. My husband is quite tall (6 foot 4) so a high enough handle is necessary. I think I like the GT the most but I’ve heard that there are problems with the front wheel locking on its own which concerns me. Have you come across this issue? Would the city mini be suitable for going for long walks in the city and around the suburbs? It doesn’t snow where I am so no issues there. Do you know when the 2013 GT will become available? I’m hopeful that they will fix the front wheel issue for the new model. Thanks, appreciate your advice. Louise

    • Lauren on January 16, 2013 at 4:25 pm said:

      Hi Louise!
The front wheel locking issue was a problem mainly with the Double GT, not the single. Either way, that’s an issue that Baby Jogger has addressed and have made changes to all GTs going forward. I have a single gt, myself, and have had no problems what so ever. I’ve also had no complaints from customers who’ve purchased the single GT. There’s no 2013 GT per-say. The Gt that was introduced in 2012 will remain the same for 2013. The only change will be the addition of a red color and changing the Shadow/Black color to all black.
All three strollers you mentioned will be suitable for long walks…it’s just a matter of which one will feel the smoothest! The Swift will be the smoothest feeling because it has a true air tire. Next, the GT, with it’s ever-air tire (similar to an air tire, but with out the maintenance). Then the City Mini, with it’s foam tire.

what other questions do you have?

there are no updates to the City mini GT for 2013, other than adding a new color (crimson/red) and changing the shadow/black color to all black. Therefore, there will not be any sales on “last year’s model.” Sorry!! So go ahead and get it whenever you’re ready. The all black GT probably will not be available until the summer…but that’s just a guess. The new crimson color is available now!
Please let me know if you would like to place an order with us!

    Hi,
I was wondering if you had an update on when the 2013 CMGT will be out? Besides the black color, will there be any other changes/updates? I am not due till June, so can wait if there will be improvements made to the newer model.
    Thanks!

I’m sorry, forgot to ask one more thing… Will the 2012 adapter be the same for the britax b safe car seat for the 2013 model?

Do you know of any click-it strollers compatible with the britax b safe car seat? I haven’t been able to find one.

    Thanks,

      Hi!
The Baby Jogger B-safe car seat adapter will work with the current b-safe car seat. I don’t know of any other strollers off the top of my head that would fit with the b-safe. Sorry!

Hi Lauren, great article, very useful indeed!

Do you know if both the hard bassinet and the compact bassinet that fit BJCM will also fit BJCM GT?

    Thanks a lot!

I need stroller help! When I had one I used mainly my BOB revolution. Now I have two (newborn and 3 year old) and I am on the search for a stroller. I have a double Chariot Cougar for the zoo etc, but am looking for a run around double stroller. I need something I can fly with, so hence I am not even looking at the double BOB right now. I purchased a City Select because I had several friends sing it’s praises. Well they clearly had never used a BOB. I hated that stroller from the second I pushed it out onto the sidewalk. It felt clunky and couldn’t navigate even the smallest amount of snow. It was not easy to push or maneuver at all. As soon as I got home from my first outing I placed it in the classified ads. Thankfully I bought it used and won’t lose any money on it.

So my question is the City Mini Double GT going to dissapoint. I need something versatile. Something I can use when out for good walks (again I can use my Chariot for when I go running), something that can navigate snow and gravel roads.

I have also considered purchasing a CMGT and a glider board for travelling and the mall etc. However, I have read terrible reviews about the glider board on the CM and wondering if there is any difference with it on the CMGT. Thanks any help and direction I could get would be much appreciated.

      Hi Kristy,
having been a BOB user, everything else is going to feel very different, especially doubles. And from experience there is no perfect double stroller, so you’re going to have to compromise somewhere.
I think you’ll love the CMDGT as it will have some of the smoothness that you’re used to with the bob, easy to push, roomy seats, not super long, but also fairly slim when folded. The CMDGT weighs 32.5lbs and the BOB Revolution Duallie weighs 34lbs…so you’re not saving much in terms of weight, but you are saving space because the stroller folds up slimmer (primarily because of the smaller wheels). The CMDGT will be able to get get through snow and gravel. If you’re talking about really thick gravel you’ll need a stroller with big wheels like the bob, but packed gravel is no problem.
As for the baby jogger glider board, my customers haven’t complained to me about it. I find it to be a nice board that is easy to use. How well you like/dislike it will probably depend on how tall your child is that’s using it and how comfortable they are on it. As well, as how comfortable you are pushing the stroller with the glider board attached. It does take getting used to, which is true of all stroller/glider board combos. There might be some difference between using the Glider board on the CMGT versus the CM because the GT has an adjustable handlebar…which might allow your child to fit more comfortable because you can move the handlebar into a better position.
If you really need a seat for your child…my feeling is that the CMDGT is a great option for someone that likes the feeling and all-terrain capabilities of a BOB, but doesn’t want as much bulk.
Please let me know if you have other questions.

    hello Lauren!
    I’m going crazy about strollers!!
Í live in Brazil and i’m going to Orlando in 10 days. my daughter is almost 4 months. I will not take my stroller to buy one there. Do you have a suggestion?? Can she ride on the City Mini without the car seat? I need a stroller where she can sleep, my Quinny does notrecline:((( THANK YOU FOR THIS SITE!!!

    • Lauren on March 8, 2013 at 2:01 pm said:

      Hi Carla,
In my opinion, yes, she can ride in the stroller with out the car seat. If she’s really small, you might give her some extra support with some rolled up blankets or an infant head support cushion. But i put my little guy in the stroller pretty early on and by 4 months, he was totally good to go!
The city mini or the GT are great for napping because the canopy is huge and gives lots of shade. Plus, the seat reclines nearly flat.
Please let me know if you have any other questions! Please consider shopping in our amazon store for your stroller!

    Hi there Lauren,
Amazing site, thank you so much. I have an older child (just 4) and a 7 month old baby. We are looking into a double that will allow us to go as far as we can with our oldest (height wise). I have narrowed the two I like down to the Bob dualie and the CMGT. Do you have a suggestion on which will allow us to go the longest with using it at zoos, disney etc?

I like the CMGT but the canopy was kind of weird for her. Can you take it completely off?

    Thank you in advance!

      Hi Ashley,
      Thanks!
The CMGTD will offer you the most head room (26″)…so i would say go with that if you’re looking for a longer life-span. I can’t remember what it is on the BOB, but not as much as that!
Yes, you can take the canopy off. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Hi Lauren!

I was wondering if you could tell me the differnce between the CMDGT & the Britax B-Agile Double? I have a single bob now that has been great for visits to the zoo & long walks (super smoothe on sidewalk terrain), but is too bulky for everyday use & travel. I am highly contemplating the CMDGT but the Britax is less expensive so I’m curious about the differences since they look pretty similar. I am also looking at the Joovy Ultralight Caboose for the convenience of easy step on/off for my little guy–he is 21 months & doesn’t really love being in a stroller so I’m wondering if a stand-on is the better route? Your opinion is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    • Lauren on March 26, 2013 at 6:58 pm said:

      Hi Jackie,
The CMDGT is an all-terrain stroller with different/better wheels, slightly more roomy seats, and is heavier than the BAD.
If you’re going for lighter weight then the BAD would be great. But the CMDGT will feel tons smoother.
The Joovy Ultralight Caboose is a good option. What I have seen of it is that you get what you pay for with that stroller. But you can’t beat the sit and stand option!! I can understand the need for somewhere for your little guy to go. Does he need a spot to sit, or could you get by with him standing on a glider board. Because you could get the Lascal buggy board for your BOB. Since he’s under 2 still, I’m guessing you might need a seat for him occasionally. So if you’re just looking for something to tide you over until he’s fully capable of walking with out needing a seat (and maybe for him it won’t be that long) then go with the BAD or Joovy and save the money.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.

The BRitax B-Agile Double is not compatible with Chicco car seats…only Britax car seats. The CMDGT is compatible with Chicco. You can get child trays for both the Britax and CMDGT (purchased separately).

    Hi Lauren,

I have a soon to be 3 yr old and a baby due in 2 months. Since my 3 yr old isn’t too keen on walking long distances without being carried. I’m now between the CMD and the CMGTD (leaning toward the CMGTD). I’ve seen photos of a very small baby with a newborn head support/carseat insert in the mini with the seat in full recline. I’m sure they don’t “recommend” doing that, but is it possible? The other choice I was thinking about would be to use the compact pram. Do you know how the compact pram attaches to the CMD/CMGTD? I can’t find any pictures or videos of it. I have a chicco carseat, so the adapter bar seems more of a hassle than it is worth. Thoughts or maybe some pictures of the install of the compact pram?

    Thanks!

    • Lauren on March 26, 2013 at 6:49 pm said:

      Hi Kim,
No, I don’t think Baby Jogger would recommend putting your newborn in the seat with a head support…but I DID IT!! :-) I know a lot of people who’ve done that. Just be sure to buckle them in (obvi). As long as they’re snuggly, supported, and buckled in, what’s the harm?? Plus, i love that the seat reclines nearly flat…perfect for sleeping babies.
You could get the compact pram if you want. I don’t have one right now to take pics of. It’s not a super popular baby jogger item..so i’m not surprised that you can’t find any pics. It can attach to the CMD or CMGTD. But If you’re ok with putting the baby in the seat of the stroller…then you don’t really need the bassinet.
Please let me know if you have other questions.

    Hi Lauren!

I have an almost 3yr old and am due with twins within the next month. I have a newly purchased CMDGT and am considering a glider board for my toddler but have been unable to find any info specific to the CMDGT. I find that people either love this accessory or it doesn’t fit their stroller well and they hate it. Here are my concerns: 1) Will my toddler be unable to stand comfortably/straight on the board or will the stroller handle be in the way? 2) I am 5’2″… will I have trouble reaching around my son to push the stroller? 3)Is tipping an issue because of the added weight at the back? I am really excited about my new CMDGT and am grateful for any insight you can give. Thanks!

    • Lauren on March 31, 2013 at 5:12 pm said:

      Hi Maryanne,
The baby jogger glider board does fit on the CMDGT. What I have learned is that with any stroller and glider board combo you have to get used to using it, standing on it, and walking with it. You will not push the stroller the same as you do with out it…that’s just the nature of the beast, not matter what.
Here are my thoughts on your questions:
      1. In general, he should be comfortable and be able to stand straight up. That is how baby jogger intends it to be used.
      2. you will have to reach around him not matter how tall you are :-) I wouldn’t think you would have trouble doing so, but you will have to get used to it and find the position that you like best.
      3. Tipping is not an issue, provided your son doesn’t hang on the handlebar. The weight of the glider board and your son, is on the ground, not the stroller, so there should be no tipping.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.

we ended up buying the britax b-agile instead of the city mini, mainly because the britax travel system is a money saver. not happy! the car seat is too large and prevents us from riding in our car comfortably (we are both tall). with the car seat behind me, i actually am unable to operate my car! also, we live in a neighborhood with older trees and roots that have often pushed up sections of sidewalk, so it can be a bit bumpy. we are also walking two large dogs with baby. on every single 15 minute walk, the stroller tips, and almost goes over. i feel it is dangerous and we are stroller shopping again. i cannot have faith that my 72 year old mom can use this stroller safely. extremely disappointed. we are looking now at city mini, and citi GT. will citi mini be more stable than b-agile? i know it has a larger front wheel. are three wheeled strollers simply not as stable? we are also looking at a graco system which has four wheels (Graco Modes Click Connect Travel System Stroller). it works as a travel system, and also can become a bassinet and can also face front or back. so…..we need a car seat that can allow us to drive….we need a stroller situation for an infant (he is just over 1 month), and we need something that will not tip and fall. it does not have to be a travel system if the stroller has the capacity to carry an infant. thanks!!

      Hi Elizabeth,
I’m sorry to hear about your experience with the B-Agile (BA)!!! I think the CM will be an small improvement, because the wheel in front is a lot bigger than the BA…so that will help the stroller get over bumps a little easier. But the GT would be the best for your situation, I think. The GT’s big, fat, rubbery wheels will handle the terrain with ease. I find the baby jogger strollers very stable. But keep in mind that when you put a car seat on ANY stroller, it changes where the center of gravity is, because the car seat sits up higher on the stroller, than where a child sits in the main seat of the stroller…and that’s definitely true of the BA, CM, and GT. So you have to take that into consideration when using the stroller with the car seat attached.
I like 3 wheel strollers, personally, because they feel very easy to maneuver (esp with one hand), and they can get through thick or rough terrain easier.
As far as car seats go, I can’t say which one is going to fit your car better…but you might have a look at the Graco Snugride (just the basic snugride that goes up to 22lbs http://www.gracobaby.com/Products/Pages/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductID=1750727) This seat has a lower weight and height limit than the car seat you would get with the graco modes click connect. Therefore, it might be smaller in overall size, thereby giving you more room for your long legs in the car!!
I also really like the bumbleride indie stroller…an upgrade from the GT. It comes with a car seat adapter. When the car seat is on the stroller it sits a lot lower in the stroller than the BA, CM, or GT.
We sincerely hope you’ll consider shopping with us!!!
Please let me know if you have any other questions.

I also have a question about using a buggy board. In online reviews, a lot of people seem to have complaints the buggy board when using the city mini. Some have said that it seems to work better with the GT. Your thoughts? I would prefer the size/price of the city mini but would like to eventually be able to use the board.
    Thank you so much!

      Hi Alisa,
I’m not sure what the difference would be between attaching the board to the CM versus the GT…and that’s definitely not something I’ve heard from my customers. And most of my customers buying the glider board are buying it for their CM. So, I’m really sorry…I don’t have many thoughts on that. :-/
I’d say, if the CM is in your budget go with that! If my memory is correct the glider board came out before the GT stroller…so from the start it was meant to go on the CM and city select.

    Hi Miranda!
    Thank you for your comment!
Comparing a side-by-side stroller to an inline-double is an interesting comparison. Plus, these are 2 very different strollers.
The CMDGT has a seat back height of 21″ vs the B-Ready (BR) at 20″. That’s pretty close, but an inch is an inch…Also the CMDGT lists their max. head height to be 26″. I’m not sure what the BR’s max head height is…I’m guessing it’s a little less. Otherwise, the seat dimensions of each are fairly close.
The CMDGT holds 100lbs total. The BR holds 55 lbs in the main stroller seat and 35 lbs in the second seat. So that’s something worth noting…so once you’re oldest hits 35lbs he/she will have to sit up front all the time.
I do think the wheels on the CMDGT are MUCH nicer and way more durable!! So in NYC, where you stroller is like your right hand man, these wheels are really going to hold up.
I definitely agree that the narrow-ness of the BR is a huge advantage in the city. I do think you have to really think about your preferences between a side by side and an inline double. That’s a personal choice. But I think really coming to terms with that will help you feel more comfortable with your choice.
If I had to make a recommendation to you…I’d say that the CMDGT would be a great fit for you.

What other questions do you have??

so i can see that the CMDGT is also heavier that the CMD, but still lighter than the MB duo
